Dr. Mitchell T. Copeland is a graduate of Colorado State University. He received his medical degree and orthopedic surgical training from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then completed a Fellowship in arthroscopy, sports medicine and joint reconstruction at Michigan State. He is a board certified orthopedic surgeon returning to Grand Junction.
He joined Western Orthopedics & Sports Medicine and is one of the team physicians for Colorado Mesa University since 1999. He has served as the Chief of Staff and a board member at Community Hospital. Currently, he is a board member of both Ice Skating Inc. and the Monfort Human Performance Lab, and serves on the President Advisory Board for Colorado MesaUniversity. He is the founder of the Western Colorado Sports Medicine Foundation. He is also active in treating athletes from the Grand Junction Gymnastics Academy. His clinical interests include surgical treatment of knee and shoulder pathology, treating athletes, and restoring active lifestyles.
His personal interests include spending time with his wife and family, fly fishing, archery hunting, and enjoying the Colorado outdoors.
