Western Orthopedics and Sports Medicine physicians are board certified and specialize in sports medicine. Through experience and training they provide quality care in Grand Junction and throughout western Colorado. Each patient is provided comprehensive, personalized care from injury diagnosis and treatment to rehabilitative services. Our Physician AssistantsCertified physician assistants (PA-C) are licensed to practice medicine under physician supervision. Physician assistants are educated in intensive medical programs accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). Because of the close working relationship PAs have with physicians, PAs are educated in a medical model designed to complement physician training. Their responsibilities include diagnosing and treating injuries, conducting physical examinations, ordering and interpreting tests, assisting in surgery, and writing prescriptions. Our Certified Athletic TrainersCertified Athletic Trainers (AT-C) help prevent and treat injuries for people of all ages. Their patients include professional athletes, industrial workers, and people involved in sports-related activities. Recognized by the American Medical Association as allied health professionals, athletic trainers specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of muscle and bone injuries and illnesses. Athletic trainers are often one of the first health-care providers on the scene when injuries occur, so they must be able to recognize, evaluate, and assess injuries and provide immediate care. |
